Assembly: Elevator

Page 9-02: 11/5, 11/6, 11/11 2024
While we were waiting on the replacement nose rib from Vans, we started working on the elevator. This component is tedious! Lots of prep work. The Tip Rib Assembly was a little challenging - just took a while to get the tip ribs fluted to be straight.

Page 9-03 through 9-04: 11/9, 11/11
Used the band saw to trim the foam ribs from the templates. Took our time bending the close out tabs which went well.

Page 9-05 through 9-07: 11/11 - 11/12
These steps involve clecoing the parts of the elevator together in order to match drill holes and trim the trim tab hinge. Katie (our daughter) helped as well.

Page 9-08: 11/14 - 11/17
Mostly dimpling, final drilling, and deburring! But, you also get to see the part come together and try not to think about having to pull it all apart, which is pretty common.
